First time camping!

Things you should know:

The first time at the camp is a new and enjoyable challenge for the child, but it’s also something new for their parents. We have to keep in mind that this is the first time your child will be on its own, away from the familiar environment of its house, confronting for the first time its need of self-caring.

It would be advisable, before this day comes, or literally before we get to the door of the camp, to discuss with our child about the new habits, activities, and obligations that it will have to adapt to, perhaps for the first time. The main subject of this discussion should be about the challenge of adapting to a new environment, with new people and new conditions, an unfamiliar schedule and the need of taking care of themselves.

It might be even better, before the time comes, to visit the campsite on an occasional day trip, so that the child can return this time to an already familiar environment and people who has already met.

In any case, for the first time of such an experience, it will be wise for the parents to preserve an attitude of trust in their child, hiding any doubt. Similarly, repetitive phone calls and frequent visits in the first few days will not help the child to adapt; on the contrary, it is likely to divert it from the purpose of camping. Give your child all the time needed, encourage it to learn new habits, teamwork and responsibility as a member of a group, and help it to develop its own talents and skills through activities, sports and creativity.

In any case, the key is the real confidence of the parents in both their child and the fully trained staff Pitsas Camp.

We stand beside you, creating real life experiences!
